I would say I have had a wide range of college experiences. I've gone to a few different schools and they were all really different from each other. So basically if you ever have any questions about any kind of school, universities, community colleges, or schools abroad, I can give you advice :)
1. Western Michigan University: I went here for my freshman year of college. Kalamazoo is a nice city but it gets really, really cold in the winter. Everybody would ask me why I had decided to go there seeing as I was one of the few students from out of state. It got kind of annoying & I didn't like telling people I was from California after awhile. I went there because my dad went there & I wanted to go out and try new things. Pretty much everyone from high school stayed in Southern California so it was exciting to do something different. I was a journalism major at this time.
2. University of Westminster: My sophomore year, I studied abroad in London. It was the best time of my life. School was really different there. Professors are called by their first name & classes are only once a week. I studied journalism & media studies while I was there. Lectures were interesting, we spent one discussing Youtube & Facebook. I really liked being in the big city and seeing all the new things that I had only seen in movies or books before. After sophmore year, I went back to WMU for one more semester.
3. Santa Ana College: This was in 2008. I had decided I didn't want to stay in Michigan anymore. So I came back home & went to community college for 2 semesters while I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. I basically took any class that sounded interesting. Human Sexuality was really interesting. Also World Geography was really good too, I think that one helpful for when I watch Jeopardy lol. This is when I changed my major to history. It's also the year I met my boyfriend so sometimes I wonder if I had stayed in Michigan would I have met him?
4. University of Nevada, Las Vegas: I knew I couldn't stay at SAC for too long because I knew I would get behind on graduating. So I applied to UNLV. I figured it was far enough away from home but still close enough that I could come home more easily. Coming home from WMU sucked, I had to take 2 planes just to get home. I was kind of worried though, I didn't know if my boyfriend would like having a long distance relationship (although he technically wasn't my bf when I got accepted into the university, I knew we would probably be eventually).I think the professors at UNLV are great too. The history department is excellent. Luckily it all worked out and I finally graduated! It only took 5 years but hey at least I have a degree now.
