So sad that my time off from school is over now. Well I had an online class this winter interterm but that doesn't really count because I didn't have to actually go to campus for it. Now that spring semester is starting, I'm working straight through until December. I have this spring semester of classes, 2 summer classes, and student teaching in the fall and then I'm done!
All my free time will be gone sadly. I really wanted this year to be the year of adventures but I think it will be the year of keeping my 4.0. So maybe next year will be my year of adventures. This year will just be mini adventures that I can fit in between class and homework time. That's alright with me if it means I can get a teaching job next year.
Time to get organized! It's so hard for me to decide how to take my stuff to school. Now that I have a laptop that I want to bring, I'm gonna have to start taking my backpack instead of my purse & binder. Now it's probably going to be backpack (with laptop & binder stuffed inside) and purse (with pencil bag, water bottle, and snack stuffed in with all my regular purse stuff). See I overthink about this kind of stuff all the time. It can never be simple. I like to have things just so! I'm too particular. If you have tips on how to pack for school I would gladly love to hear them!
Other than school the only thing I'm really looking forward to is my bff's wedding next month!! Yay one of us is finally getting married! Now I just need to figure out what to wear!
Have a happy week!

Back to work!
Spring break is over and sadly I did not do anything super exciting. I had a big list of things I wanted to get down during S.B. but I got a little lazy. We celebrated the bf's 28th birthday on April 2nd. I tried to talk him into going on a vacation but he didn't want to go anywhere, not even for a weekend. Oh well I'm too poor to go anyplace hahaha
I'm also working on applying to grad school to get my teaching credentials. I keep putting off on writing my personal statement because I don't know how to say that kids are funny and I like working with them & that I want summers off in a professional way. Oh well I'll hopefully get it done this week. I'm still waiting on one person to finish his letter of recommendation for me but I'm starting to think it will never get done so I'm trying to think about who else I could ask. I never thought I would work with kids; they used to weird me out. Now I'm totally cool with them. Babies still freak me out and I'm sure they will until I have one of my own.
I'm also trying to find a 2nd job because I've been looking at things and basically I need more money if I want to get anything done. I need a car and I know my family will not help me out on that. Car payments & insurance will cost more than what I make so I have to either upgrade my job (which is unlikely) or find a second part time job. My current job gives me $11.25 an hour but I barely get 20 hrs a week which ends up being around $425 (after taxes) every 2 weeks. And with S.B., that's 2 weeks of no pay so I'm not getting paid again until May 7th. So I will be very broke very soon. It sucks but at least I'm trying to do something about it (that's what I keep telling myself when really it SUCKS majorly). Add student loans to that too.
Basically everyday, I just try to not think about how my life is not going according to the plan I wanted. I just tell myself that happens to everyone and that I'll still have a happy ending just not that one I assumed I would get. It sucks to be young and not know what you want to do with your life. Everyone says you'll figure it out eventually but I'm a very impatient person! Although with everyone getting married and having kids lately, kind of makes me glad my plan didn't work out because I'm definitely not ready for any of that! I used to want to be married at 25 & I know I am so not ready for that right now. I need to get my own shit together before I can settle down. I don't want to burden anybody else with all that.
I need to stop blabbing on and on and go to bed now. One day back at work and I am exhausted!
Coming Up:
May 1: The Killers concert!!!
June 4: Angels vs. Cubs game!!
| I didn't take any pics on his bday so you get an old one. |

To Do List!
So many things & I'm too lazy to stay focused! So I am making a to do list that I probably should print out & look at everyday. I figure this list is good to last me until the end of the year.
1. Study for the GRE!
2. Study for the CBEST!
3. Work on application to go back to school to get my teaching credential.(By Nov. 1st).
4. Apply for Teach For America (altho I don't think they would accept me anyways)
5. Keep up to date with lesson plans at work.
6. Keep looking for a better job cuz I need $$
7. Practice driving (altho it won't matter if I get my license or not since I don't have a car or car insurance which I can't afford unless I get a better job).
8. Read as many books as possible since I won't have time to read for fun if I go back to school.
9. Pay off my credit card.
10. Start saving for Christmas. Annnnd start thinking about good present ideas.
11. Get a flu shot earlier this year! I spent all last fall sick.
12. Remind myself to take a deep breath & everything will be ok when my anxiety starts up. (I pretty much have it under control now except it does bother me whenever something interrupts my normal routine like work starting again this week has set it off).
13. Keep baking new things!
And there are many more things I need to do but this is a good starting point. I should probably try to put dates to get some of them done by but oh well. It's time for bed, tomorrow work starts again for the new school year.

School
I would say I have had a wide range of college experiences. I've gone to a few different schools and they were all really different from each other. So basically if you ever have any questions about any kind of school, universities, community colleges, or schools abroad, I can give you advice :)
1. Western Michigan University: I went here for my freshman year of college. Kalamazoo is a nice city but it gets really, really cold in the winter. Everybody would ask me why I had decided to go there seeing as I was one of the few students from out of state. It got kind of annoying & I didn't like telling people I was from California after awhile. I went there because my dad went there & I wanted to go out and try new things. Pretty much everyone from high school stayed in Southern California so it was exciting to do something different. I was a journalism major at this time.
2. University of Westminster: My sophomore year, I studied abroad in London. It was the best time of my life. School was really different there. Professors are called by their first name & classes are only once a week. I studied journalism & media studies while I was there. Lectures were interesting, we spent one discussing Youtube & Facebook. I really liked being in the big city and seeing all the new things that I had only seen in movies or books before. After sophmore year, I went back to WMU for one more semester.
3. Santa Ana College: This was in 2008. I had decided I didn't want to stay in Michigan anymore. So I came back home & went to community college for 2 semesters while I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. I basically took any class that sounded interesting. Human Sexuality was really interesting. Also World Geography was really good too, I think that one helpful for when I watch Jeopardy lol. This is when I changed my major to history. It's also the year I met my boyfriend so sometimes I wonder if I had stayed in Michigan would I have met him?
4. University of Nevada, Las Vegas: I knew I couldn't stay at SAC for too long because I knew I would get behind on graduating. So I applied to UNLV. I figured it was far enough away from home but still close enough that I could come home more easily. Coming home from WMU sucked, I had to take 2 planes just to get home. I was kind of worried though, I didn't know if my boyfriend would like having a long distance relationship (although he technically wasn't my bf when I got accepted into the university, I knew we would probably be eventually).I think the professors at UNLV are great too. The history department is excellent. Luckily it all worked out and I finally graduated! It only took 5 years but hey at least I have a degree now.
